BIOGRAPHY

Maria Dolnycky was born in Montreal, Quebec, where she graduated with Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from McGill University in piano performance under the tutelage of Ljerka Wollmarker-Blume.  The recipient of a full scholarship from the Alban Berg Foundation, she continued her studies in Vienna, Austria in the class of Professor Walter Fleischmann at the University for Music and Performing Arts (formerly Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst).  Maria also studied under the guidance of Dorothy Morton and André-Sébastien Savoie (Montreal), and performed in masterclasses taught by Karl-Ulrich Schnabel (Toronto), Karl Engel and Janina Fialkowska (Orford Arts Centre).  She is the winner of Montreal's Debut competition, and her recitals have been broadcast on both CBC Radio's Music from Montreal and the French-language Radio-Canada's Jeunes Artistes.  Maria has appeared in recital at such venues as Montreal's Pollack Hall, including in McGill University's Alumni Series, and the Chapelle historique du Bon Pasteur.

A devoted teacher, Maria maintains a teaching studio in Toronto and is a member of the Royal Conservatory College of Examiners.  She performs regularly as soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist.  CD recordings include Poetic Moods - featuring seven 20th Century composers from Ukraine, and Lullaby for a Snowy Night - holiday music from around the world.  A fascination with visual arts led her in February 2008 to launch Music on Canvas, a Toronto-based concert series that strives to present unique programs mostly of a multi-media nature, often against the backdrop of artwork and poetry readings.

Any queries regarding music instruction or collaborative performance projects should be directed to Maria via e-mail.  Studio is conveniently located in Toronto's Jane/Bloor area.
